Fame
“Lord, I have heard of Your fame; I stand in awe of Your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.” Habakkuk 3:2
This is an interesting passage. When we think of famous people, we think of movie stars, athletes, and politicians. Fame isn’t a term that people normally use for God. Merriam Webster defines fame as notoriety, reputation, renown, celebrity, and public estimation. Actually, it is the perfect term to refer to God. Jesus is the most famous man who ever lived, and His Father is even more well-known. There is a song by Hillsong Worship that expresses this very well.
Shout Your Fame
Some say You’re just a good man
Some say You were kind
Some say You are in the grave
But I say You’re alive.
Some say You’re just a prophet
Some say You were wise
Some say You were just a man
But I say You are God
You are my God
I know You’re the Messiah
You gave Your life for me
And I know You’re the only way
Jesus You are God
You are my God
I will shout Your fame to all the earth
I will lift Your name on high
And the world will know Your greatness
You are my God
Jesus I will shout Your fame to all the earth
I will lift Your name on high
I will show the world Your goodness
As I live a life that shouts Your fame
As believers, the most important thing we can do is to proclaim His deeds every chance we get and continue to make Him famous. Satan is trying to convince people that Jesus was a not the Messiah, the Son of God. He wants them to believe anything except that He is the One True God. We know the truth and we need to tell it to anyone who will listen.
