Glory
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. They have no speech; they use no words. Their voice goes out into all the Earth; their words to the ends of the world.” Psalm 19:1-4 NIV
As I write this, I am sitting on the balcony in my hotel room overlooking the ocean. A tropical storm came through over the weekend and the outer bands are now making their way north. Violent winds have blown over trees and scattered debris over the normally pristine beaches. The winds are still heavy, and the waves are crashing against the shore with amazing intensity. I love the ocean. I could sit for hours watching the waves roll in and out. Even with the winds blowing fiercely around me, it is strangely peaceful. I think it is because I feel the Lord’s presence. The waves and the wind seem to shout the glory of the Lord just as today’s verses tell us that the heavens and the sky declare the glory of God. All creation testifies to the power and majesty of the God who created it. He is above all, over all, and beyond all. The waves and wind do not need speech to tell of His awesome power. The sun, moon and stars do not need speech to testify to his brilliant majesty. How much more has He done for us? He sent His beloved Son to Earth to die on a cross to pay for my sins. He has forgiven all my sin and I stand before Him purified and washed clean. May my words declare His glory and testify to what He has done for me.
