Luke 2:21-38
“The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom; and his tongue speaks what is just. The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip.” Psalm 37:30-31
Many of the problems we face are a result of poor choices and a lack of wisdom. The righteous man seeks God and spends time studying God’s Word. He has the law of God in his heart and he does what it says. Obedience to God’s Word protects us from many of the snares that cause us to stumble. “I have hidden your Word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:11 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105 “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 God is the source of all wisdom. “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7 “Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me. I have more insight than my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. I have more understanding than my elders, for I obey your precepts. I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word. I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me. How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path.” Psalm 119:97-104 We cannot expect to have wisdom unless we spend time seeking the One who is the source of all wisdom. Our decisions, our actions and the words that come out of our mouth will be the evidence of the time and attention we give to God’s Word.
