Proverbs 5:21-23

Matthew 28

Never Alone

“In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out; but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out—until the day it lifted. So, the cloud of the Lord was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel during their travels.” Exodus 40:36-38 NIV

“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:20 NIV

We do not serve a God who created the world, set it into motion and then left it to fend for itself. Many world religions serve “gods” who are far off and who rule from a lofty throne somewhere “above.” Their followers are constantly trying to please a “god” who does not exist. They have no evidence or reason to base their belief on because there is none. We serve the only true God, and we know He exists because He is with us. From the beginning of history, He has been intimately involved in the lives of men. There is ample evidence of His existence because we can see Him at work in our lives. He was with the Israelites in the wilderness in a cloud by day and a ball of fire at night. He came to Earth and walked around as a man so that He could share in our suffering and understand our temptations. He is Immanuel, God with us. And when He was taken up to Heaven, He sent His Holy Spirit to live in us and walk with us always, to the very end of the age. I have no doubt that He is with me because I have personally experienced Him working in my life. I love the old hymn, “In the Garden.” The beautiful chorus says it all, “He walks with me, and talks with me, and tells me I am His own. And the joy we share as we tarry there, none other has ever known.”¹ I am so thankful for my Savior who walks with me and talks with me and tells me I am His own and who is intimately involved in every part of my life.
