One Mediator

“This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth.  For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the witness for this proper time.”  1 Timothy 2:3-6 LSB

God’s desire is that everyone would come to a saving relationship with Him.  He has gone to great lengths to make a way for people to be reconciled to Him.  He could have made us to be robots who didn’t have any choice but to obey Him, but that wasn’t His plan.  He wanted us to have the freedom to decide whether we wanted to be in relationship with Him and to willingly choose to follow Him.  He didn’t want puppets, He wanted children.  He knew we were going to disobey Him and sin, but He had a plan to provide restoration and reconciliation.  He doesn’t treat us as we deserve, but He is patient and loving with us. He gives us numerous opportunities to accept Him, but He will not force us to choose Him. “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some consider slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 LSB   Anyone who says they don’t want to worship a God who would send people to Hell does not understand our God.  He loves us so much that He willingly sacrificed His only Son so that we could be saved.  He does not send people to Hell.  He provided a way that they could escape Hell.  We are the ones who decide our fate.  He desires all men to be saved.  “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”  John 3:16 LSB

There is only one way to God.  He did not have to provide any way to come to Him.  He could have left us in our sinful condition without hope, but He chose to make a way.  That way is through belief in His Son, Jesus.  “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father but through Me.” John 14:6 LSB   “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under Heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 LSB   Satan has provided lots of “alternative” paths to God.  Don’t be deceived.  We are not all worshipping the same God.  There is one way and that is through belief in Jesus, His death, burial and resurrection.  Any religion, teaching, or philosophy that presents any other way is a lie, a deception by Satan to lead you astray.  There is one mediator between God and man and that is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Lamb of God.  Believe in Him and be saved.
