Our God Is Greater
“For I know that Yahweh is great and that our Lord is greater than all gods. Whatever Yahweh pleases, He does, in Heaven and on Earth, in the sea and in all deeps. The One who causes the clouds to ascend from the end of the Earth; Who makes lightnings for the rain, Who brings forth the wind from His storehouses.” Psalm 135:5-7 LSB
When I read this verse, I think of one of the songs my children used to sing in church. “My God Is So Big” by Cedarmont Kids13 teaches kids that our God is greater than all gods. He can do anything He chooses to do and the motions give them a visual reminder of His power and might.
My God is so big, so strong and so mighty
There’s nothing my God cannot do
My God is so big, so strong and so mighty
There’s nothing my God cannot do
The mountains are His
The rivers are His
The stars are His handiwork too
My God is so big, so strong and so mighty
There’s nothing my God cannot do
There’s nothing my God cannot do
There’s nothing my God cannot do for you
This song was written for kids but we would be wise to listen to its words and believe them. Our God is so big, and there is nothing He cannot do. Everything is in His control. We can trust that He has the power and ability to handle any situation that we face and we can believe that He loves us so much that He will take care of us in the best way every time. I always find it humorous when I hear the phrase “our God is greater than all gods” because God is the only God. All other gods are not real. Allah, Budda, Brahma, Zeus, Ra, Shiva, Poseidon, Apollo, etc. are all just manmade, Satanically inspired figments of their imagination. They have no power. We might as well say that God is greater than the ant on the sidewalk. Our God is the one and only God. He has all power, all knowledge, and dominion over everything that exists in Heaven and on Earth.
