Strength

“The God of Israel gives power and strength to His people. May God be praised!”  Psalm 68:35 HCSB

There are over 350 references to God’s strength and power found in Scripture.  We are encouraged to “be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.”  Ephesians 6:10 (NIV) Our strength is found in our relationship with Christ.  He empowers us to do whatever is necessary to accomplish His will.  He gives us strength to overcome temptation and to minister to others.  Those who rely on God’s strength day to day will find a never-ending supply of power and be able to stand under the trials and tribulations of this life. When we are feeling weak, it is helpful to remind ourselves of God’s promises.

“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13 NIV

“He gives strength to the weary and strengthens the powerless.  Youths may faint and grow weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint.”  Isaiah 40:29-31 HCSB

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”  Isaiah 41:10 NIV

“The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace.”  Psalm 29:11 NIV

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”  Psalm 73:26 NIV

“I love You, Lord, my strength.  The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”  Psalm 18:1-2 NIV

“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’  Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.  That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties.  For when I am weak, then I am strong.”  2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NIV

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”  Psalm 46:1 NIV

“Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid.  The Lord, the Lord Himself, is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation.”  Isaiah 12:2 NIV

“But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.”  2 Thessalonians 3:3 NIV

“Ascribe power to God.  His majesty is over Israel, His power among the clouds.  God You are awe-inspiring in Your sanctuaries.  The God of power gives power and strength to His people.”  Psalms 68:34-35 HCSB
